medium dark brown color. Sweet malty nose filled with Baltic rye bread with dark fruit notes. Big carbonation, molasses, rye bread, fairly bitter for a bock. Actually doesn’t have the depth the filtered bock had and found it a bit more bitter but still very solid

Baeren Ryebock Unfiltered 2023 6.5% This bottle probably got a bit shook up but it looked like a murky muddy brown. However, it had a great thick long-lasting beige head of foam. Yeasty clove weizen like aroma, lots of spice plus some chocolate bread like notes. Nice molasses like notes in the aftertaste. This is smooth and overall pretty nice.

Bit more apples. Not as soft. Little sweet but feels more fruity.

After 7 months of aging: up to 3.4. less bitter, more mellow, crisper body, a lot more balanced, but not as great as the old version. Bottle from the brewery: 2.9 when fresh. I loved the old version that was filtered, but this year that one seems a bit disappointing. Let's see how this is. A Roggenbier really should be unfiltered anyway. Nose is caramel malt, rye spice, black German bread, cloves, bit of banana and sweet melon. Dark brown with a tall, fine tan head. Very cloudy, almost muddy. Spicy rye flavor, but then again, very astringent and thin. Almost no sweetness in there. Seems like some kind of infection just ate up all the maltose. It doesn't taste spoiled or sour, just thin and lame. And way too bitter. Damn shame. The old ones were great.
