Bottle. A black one, with a small dark beige head. Licorice, molasses, burnt and roasted malts, dark chocolate, some berry hints and alcohol, lots of oat and a touch of smoke in the aroma. Then even more chocolate and smoke shows up, as the beer warms slightly. It's full-bodied, warming and very smooth on the palate, with a very smooth carbonation. Would've love a bit more carbonation though. Roasted malts, smoke notes, molasses and licorice, some dark chocolate and dried figs, oats and some berry-like sourness in the flavor. Some sweetness too, and of course a good dash of alcohol. Not too much alcohol though, at least not considering the ABV. Really long malt driven finish, where also some hoppy bitterness, pine cones and resin show up. A pretty intense beer, but complex, tasteful and moreish. And even though I think I'd like a bit more carbonation, I must admit the level they went for makes it very smooth and silky. Yummi. 220601

Lovely powerful evening sipper. Surely excellent by the campfire if I get a hand on a bottle. Black as a winter night in the glass and a fine beige head Pleasant intensity in the aroma. Mostly chocolate and some smoked notes Balanced sweetness for a beer like this. Also a mellow carbonation level Dark malt, loads of chocolate, coffee, some roast and mellow smoked flavor [Bottle at The Brewery]
