Zoals het een baron betaamt, getuigt deze doordrinker van een onberispelijke smaak. Een puur pilsbier, ongefilterd en ongezouten, zoals een echte baron in het leven staat.

'Pilsener' by this Anker-owned microbrewery located in the church of a village near Mechlin, offering their beers there from tap and in cans; thanks tderoeck for sharing. Thick and frothy, snow white, stable head on a misty pale straw-yellow robe with vaguely greenish tinge. Aroma of freshly cut grass, raw cereals, white bread, green pear, unripe peach, field flowers, green banana. Quite yeasty-fruity onset, green pear and unripe banana notes with a touch of hard nectarine but fairly low in sweetness, minerally carbonation, smooth mouthfeel; cereally and white-bready middle, quite pure, followed by a relatively long, grassy and floral hoppy finish, drying, bittering and quenching, while some of that restrained fruity yeastiness lingers - a yeastiness I associate more with Belgian ales than with unfiltered German Lagers; there is something too 'Belgian' about this to be a credible (unfiltered) Pilsener, so that if I were to taste this blind, 'Landbier' or 'Zwickelbier' or anything alike would not come to my mind - instead, this seems more like a dry, sleek version of a pale lager-imitating Belgian blonde... Nevertheless crisp, refreshing and balanced, not unpleasant in any way - just not a true Pilsener for me, of any subtype.

2/XI/24 - 33cl can from Dranken Marlou (Zonhoven), shared @ home, BB: 6/II/25, lotnr: 724002 (2024-1166)

Clear yellow blond beer, big creamy fluffy white head, stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty yeasty, fruity, banana, sweet impression, malty, caramel notes, ok, smells like a top fermented beer though, not a lager… MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, malty, bitter touch, a bit fruity, banana, peaches, sweet, yeasty, a bit of caramel malts. Aftertaste: malty, yeasty, bitter, fruity, apples, banana, some caramel malts, no way this is a pilsner…
