2023 barrel master - highland whiskey
An Imperial Stout aged in Highland Whisky barrels for 12 months. Rich chocolate and dark roast malts merge with underlying soft berry fruits and light oak. Imparting a classical Highland whisky character to this lavish stout.

Semi opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, light and airy considering 14 out of 100 units are made of alcohol! Decent fine carbonation. Airy dark malts, a nice rich dark chocolate vibe that is never heavy, pulls off that elusive trick of being both dark and light and at the same time. The barrelling brings a rich fruity whiskey with a nice light vanilla oak vibe. Quite a light finish. Yeah, Buxton got everything right here. Rich and well integrated flavours but a such a light palate. Marvellous!

Bottle split at Tilt, Bingo-Cotts Convention, Thanks to Rich 08/07/23. Black with a decent tan head. Nose is chocolate, molasses, mellow barrel, dark malts, spice. Taste comprises light smoke, whisky barrel, raisins, chocolate, light spice, charr. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Decent but no wow ... falls short of the usual Buxton BA offerings.

Not Cotts 23. Aroma has booze overhead... and all the way through actually. Underlying malty sweetness. Big and boozy. Sweet streak. Medium bodied. Oily. Long astringent finish.
