355ml can. Sweetish, earthy and slightly beany with some syrup, coffee and chocolate. Decent.

Coffee, chocolate malt, and dry hay aroma. Black with small light tan head. Moderately sweet coffee, chocolate malt, and moderately bitter dry hay flavor. Good body. Very nice.

The Aromas are minerals, coffee, roast, cocoa and dark malt. Flavors are like Nose, more sweet than bitter, on the mild side. Slightly soft body and mellow finish. Nothing too spectacular.

Tasty-ass coffee porter, mellow and semisweet but oh-so-drinkable, with notes of chocolate, coffee, caramel, date, black cherry, and roast. Finishes dry and much too easy to chug for an 8.5% beer. Thin texture’s a bummer, but otherwise a great Baltic porter.

Crooked Stave Coffee Baltic Porter 8% A ruby black pour with a ruddy deep tan head and a semi-sweet fruity coffee aroma. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and good but not so complex fruity roast coffee flavor.

Can from Craft Brewed. Pours a deep cola brown with caramel highlights and quickly dissipating beige head. Big coffee aromas with some yeast, cacao nib, cocoa powder and faint marshmallow notes. Molasses, cacao, brown sugar and rich dark prune flavors on the palate. Coffee kind of fades as it warms, with more fruit and dark sugar notes. Some roasty bitterness on the finish with some lingering alcohol. Pretty solid baltic.

On tap at Crescent Moon, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma is pretty subtle, with light vanilla and a touch of coffee. Flavour is along the same lines, with light coffee, even lighter vanilla and no notice of the barrels. Seems rather muffled, lacking clarity. Not so impressed.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Andover Classic Wines. Appearance is opaque black with dark ruby/brown at bottom of glass, nice sparkle at edge of glass, finger-width creamy light brown head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is rich, dark roasted bittersweet coffee with cocoa. Taste is as aroma with hints of fruit. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick, smooth texture, average-to-lively carbonation, mild alcohol and finish as taste. Overall, mainly coffee but some background malts and great body--a little too carbonated.
