There once was a brewer who got to taste a beer brewed with miso paste and for some peculiar reason it reminded him of fresh apple pie. An idea was born – liquid apple pie. A few test brews followed – the first one smelled like glue and the brewer was advised to never brew this beer again. But he didn’t give up that easily and finally Applehoff was born – a lactobacillus-soured ale brewed with Granny Smith apples and Ceylon cinnamon, with some lactose added to balance the sourness. Close your eyes, take a whiff from the glass and be transported to your grandma’s kitchen.

(Can, 0.33 l - BB 01.07.2023, thanks FatPhil, 20221007) The beer poured pale golden and lightly hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had cinnamon, apples and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were cinnamon, apples, fruitiness, sourness and low bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy and mildly bitter. An apple pie in liquid form. Weird.

Smell- weak, some cinnamon Foam-thin, weak sourness. Head is small, white in color, sticks. Appearance- nice simple can. From - pint Taste- weak citrus, some sourness. As expected, I hate it. But can somewhat drink it...

A bit hazy yelliw, smaller and nonlasting white head. Quite noticeable cinnamon aroma, some sour green apples in the back. Taste follows - soury, apple candies with quite some cinnamon. A bit lower carbonation, lighter.

Lovely clear straw-coloured, with dense white foam. Cinnamon smell, christmassy but light. Taste is nicely sour up front, with only a little bit of fruity sweetness accompanying it. Lots of cinnamon, but works magically with apple. Great beer. Refreshing.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy, opaque golden with a white head. Distinct cinnamon aroma. Medium body, a vague, fruity tartness but dominated by the cinnamon - this really is apple pie in a bottle. And if you love apple pie you should probably also like this. Never cloyingly sweet. 260419
