There once was a brewer who got to taste a beer brewed with miso paste and for some peculiar reason it reminded him of fresh apple pie. An idea was born – liquid apple pie. A few test brews followed – the first one smelled like glue and the brewer was advised to never brew this beer again. But he didn’t give up that easily and finally Applehoff was born – a lactobacillus-soured ale brewed with Granny Smith apples and Ceylon cinnamon, with some lactose added to balance the sourness. Close your eyes, take a whiff from the glass and be transported to your grandma’s kitchen.

33cl bottle from Sip, Tallinn. Pours hazy golden brown with a modest, white head. Certainly cinnamon and apples in the aroma - smells just like apple pie. Tastes like apple pie too, sweet desserty and slighly spicy with nice apple and cinnamon flavour and a light acidity. Strange, but works rather well.

330 ml bottle @ Leib Resto ja Aed. Pours darker orange, some foam on top. Nose is just ridiculous, apples on top of apples, with some sugar thrown in. Grandma's apple pie, that's what this is, topped with some vanilla ice-cream. Lots of cinnamon coming out in the taste as well, not too sweet but quite sour, refreshing. Not sure if it's too gimmicky as a beer but well, I do like well made apple pie.

Tap at koma. Pours hazy orange. Aroma is sour, cinnamon, apple. Flavor is sweet and sour, spices, cinnamon, apple. Feels watery, even kind of metallic. Carbonation is high. Drinkability is not good, it's kind of struggle to finish 0.33l portion by meself. Overall: drinkableish with some effort.

Sample @ hbf 2018. Poured golden color with a thin white head. Strong cinnamon notes, apple sweetness. Musty apples with cinnamon and sweetness. Light soury finish.
