Introducing the Imperial Wee Angry Scotch Ale, an opulent interpretation of the 19th-century 90 Schilling Scotch Ale. This robust, dark ale retains its roots in Edinburgh but boasts an elevated malt profile, with a pronounced malt character. Crafted using a selection of Scottish specialty malts, including Peated Malt, this Imperial version delivers an even more profound smoky essence, setting it apart from its traditional counterpart.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg Nov 14, 2024 - 10.2% abv listed - 2024 vintage on can label). Very dark amber brown with small beige head. Caramel and toffee malt with phenolic band aid notes peaking through in parts, a touch boozy, feint bread crust, thinner medium body. Wondering if this is a batch issue or it just turned quickly. The phenolic note is minimal so if you're not sensitive to it, you can probably look past it.

473mL can, pours a deep dark amber brown with a medium beige head. Aroma is full of toasted caramel malt, toffee, and bready malt, with fermented out sugars. Flavour is malty as hell but not too sweet, with big caramel, dry toffee, bready malt, molasses, and fermented out brown sugar. Rich dry caramely finish with plenty of depth. Easily Russell's best beer in years.

473mL can. Pours very deep amber with large beige head. Aroma of sugary malt; fairly light. Flavour stale bread, candied fruit, and some cloves (?). Burnt sugar on the finish. Light carbonation in the mouth. Enjoyable but feels a bit lacking.

473ml can. Pours a clear dark brown with red hue and a medium, creamy, long lasting, beige head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of toasted caramel malt, raisin and peat. Sweet flavour of lightly toasted malt, toffee, raisin and peat in a dry, mild bitter, warming booze finish. Full body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Malt forward and tasty. Would love to see this barrel aged.
