Despite Simplex being an ale, it has all the characteristics of an old-styled pils. It is a blond, unfiltered, unpasteurized, hoppy and bitter beer that remains low in alcohol. Resulting in a straw blonde, highly drinkable beer with plenty of flavor and character.

Bottle from de Caigny, dated Nov17 BB 03/11/2019. Almost clear yellow to light golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of grainy malt, alight spicy and grassy hop. Soft bitterness, bit spicy yeast, slight peppery. Bit light bodied, quite high in carbonation. Good one.

Sampled @ Zythos Bier Festival 2018. A almost clear golden beer with a mid sized good lasting white head. Aroma of mild grainy malt, yeast, soft floral hops. Taste of dry intense spicy wheat, yeast, some yellow fruits.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 14/12/19, from Stadin Panimobaari, 20180425) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, Belgian style yeast and sweetness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, grass, Belgian style yeast, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, yeasty and bitter. A very nice hoppy brew with Belgian twist.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours a misty glowing orange, small bubbly white head. Grassy nose, floral with some softly sweet pale malt. Taste seems to draw on De Ranke's trademark fondness for a robust, bristling bitterness, some floral meadow, moderately sweet with an underlying soapy fruitiness. While I can't say with certainty that I have tried an authentic "old-style pils", as this purports to be, I feel confident this is more in tune with a hoppy Belgian Ale.

Bottle. Pours clear golden yellow, medium white fizzy head, dissipates quickly, decent residual and lacing. Aroma is grassy, grains, a hint of belgian spice. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, a hint of clove on grains and grass. Medium body, bubbly carbonation.

On tap at Moeder Lambic Original St Gilles, Brussels Friday 9th March 2018 in the company of Dad, Barry and Scott Straw coloured with a white head, good clarity, lacy white head, A little soapy detergent on an otherwise malty nose a little mineral touch. Good beer, fruity, nice bitterness.A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

No prosze kolsch robiony daleko ok Kolonii, a tu prosze jaki smaczny, lepszy od nie jednego orginala. Piana, stabilna, mocna i spora, do tego pozwijana jak wloskie lody. Jasna barwa i aromat pilsa, mewtnosc byla, dochodzi lekka nuta pszeniczna , jest nawet gozko i wyraziscie. Ciekawie to wykombinowali. Jak spiewala kiedys Tina Turner "Simple the best" i tu tak wlasnie jest.
