Dunkel / 5.5% / Similar to a schwarzbier, this traditional style has a slightly lighter body with a touch of sweetness. Notes of nutty toffee and roasted malts.

Canned 1/24/26, drunk 4/24/26.
Chocolate, a touch of wood tannin and some mildly peppery hop. Good maltiness, clean, though a bit of wood rawness...
More wood than in any other in the series or really than most other foeder-aged lagers I've had. Which isn't a bad thing, though here it does dry out the texture considerably. Chocolatey, though missing much in the way of hop. Clean, crisp, though not very much mineral. Really kind of just a lot of chocolate and foeder.

Aromas are malt and taffy. Appearances are kind of light for a dunkel, medium amber. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, bittersweet up front with a more bitter finish. A little bit chalky. Decent body and carbonation.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark golden pour had me taken aback at first, off-white foamy head. Grainy malty aroma, toasty. Taste is bready, sweet, like a very rich helles. Creamy feel, toasty malts linger. Not your typical Dunkel.
