When brewery from Estonian and brewery from Latvian are brewing together it's only natural to look toward Livonia. Sklandrausis is a sweet pie with Livonian origin, made of rye dough and filled with potato and carrot paste and seasoned with caraway. And if this does not sound like great beer idea, you do not know craft brewers.

33cl bottle from the brewery online shop. Pours slightly hazy mahogany with a small, off-white head. Malty, bready and spicy with notes of cummin, caraway and caramel. Sweet, spicy and slightly desserty.

Midtown tasting. Pours amber, actually relatively clear, some white bubbles in the top. Nose has quite strong vegetable feel to it, a bit raw but spices, cardamon, are coming through as well. Tastes lightly sweet, spicy, a bit harsh and paint-like but thats probably coming from cumin. I need to try sklandrausis to really understand the product behind this beer. Feels kind of like a pumpkin beer with cumins, interesting.
