30.12.2024, 0,33l bottle @ home:
Nice bubbly-creamy longlasting head, hazy dark amber color. Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish boozy, fruit stones, yeast, soil, bark, alcohol, raisins, almond essence, minerals, caramel malts, spices, cardboard, plastic. Taste is harsh metallic, bark, booze, yeast, metal tank, soil, fruit stones, cardboard, medicine, spices. Longlasting hash bitterness, boozy and medical mouthfeel. Crap!

Bottle, best before 19-8-2029 i think it is the 2020 batch. 10.9%. no mention of vintage on the bottle label. very dark brown, fluffy brown head. nutty caramelly aroma, not so strong considering the abv. somewhere between barleywine and vienna. after a few more sniffs i get more strong belgian ale, less vienna. faint notes of dried dark fruits. flavor is malty, faint dark dried fruits, spices. decent strong belgian ale, but nothing special. quite balanced though, that's a plus. And for a christmas beer, it is not very spiecd, that's also a plus. reminds me a bit of chimay blue, when aged properly and of a good vintage.

(Keg at Mikkeller Helsinki, 2019 vintage, 20191217) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had toasted malts, aniseed, Belgian style yeast and lightly prunes. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were spiciness, aniseed, sweetness, toasted malts, prunes and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, boozy and bitter. A surprisingly nice strong brew with Belgian twist. Bit boozy.
