Taster from 0,75l bottle at Hopfenfrische, Hollenburg. both taste and aroma of intense lavender, floral, soapy. rather intense, I like it, but a taster of this is enough.

Rated at Hitas Beer Lounge - Platinum Edition. Perfumy and soapy with some citrus and lavendel, herbal notes, hints of tartness and mild sourness. Interesting

Flaska från Bofkont, 2020. Guldfärgad med tät vit krona som hänger kvar. Skarp, blommig ton i doften med väldigt tydligt lavendel. Samma i smaken. Lite tvättmedel, rengöringsmedel och luktkudde. Går mot pissoarpuck. Mineral, citrus, citrusskal. Lite aggressiv i början, men jämnar ut sig en bit in.

Lavender lambic by this young but already much coveted (and hyped) lambic blender; 75 cl bottle shared with tderoeck and Goedele at ‘t Molenhof in Oost-Vleteren. Thick, egg-white, very moussy and foamy head over a misty apricot-hued golden beer, turning murky and beige-ish in the end. Aroma of very strong lavender, overpowering even the lambic itself, reminiscent of not just lavender leaves but lavender soap and lavender-scented urinal cake, smothering notes of orange pith, mandarin peel, dry hay, freshly cut celery, old wood, freshly baked cookies, gooseberry, lime juice, fresh lemonbalm leaves. Crisp, ‘green-fruity’ onset, green apple and unripe gooseberry, some yellow plum, lactic and tart but not sharply puckering, with crystalline, cava-like sparkling; supple bread-crusty malt core with ongoing lime-zesty and lactic sourness and light woodiness underneath, but eventually completely drowning in this soapy, perfumey, almost chemically sweet lavender effect. Late, soft old hop bitterishness and lingering lime-like sourness turn things back to lambic domain, but the lavender represents a very dominant flavour which does not at all match with the lambic it is supposed to improve. Perfectly fine, even elegant and refined lambic ruined by a lavender overdose, as if two immiscible fluids were thrown into the bottle together; in itself an interesting enough experiment, but absolutely not worth its hefty price tag. First disappointment in Bofkont for me, but admittedly this has to do with the choice of the extra ingredient here and nothing else.

11/VI/22 - 75cl bottle @ Molenhof (Oostvleteren), bottled: 26/VIII/20, BB: +5Y, lot: 2020LAV (2022-689) Thanks to Alengrin for sharing today’s beers!

Very cloudy blonde to orange beer, small aery to creamy off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very very floral, way too much lavender, toilet freshener, funky, a little fruity. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: nice acidity up front, pretty fruity, lemon juice, unripe peaches, floral and funky, bitter notes, herbal, and an overpowering lavender flavour. Aftertaste: lemon balm, very dry, floral, bitter, funky, lemony, peppery, spicy, all lavender, ok but not really great.
