Pale amber, slight haze. Thick head. The aroma has a soft bit of brett C, with light rhubarb notes. On the palate, medium tartness with bright rhubarb notes, the finish leaning tart. Only a hint of brett, and it's off-dry.

Poured from 750mL bottle (2022 vintage). Clear dull gold with small white head. Nice funk, soft rhubarb, not a huge rhubarb lambic fan, but still appreciate the work that goes into and would happily drink it nonetheless.

Lambics with rhubarb have seen a certain popularity in recent years, kicking off with Cantillon's first Zwanze in 2008, now continued as Nath, and followed by interpretations by 3 Fonteinen, Tilquin, De Cam and others; the fact that this combination seems to work so well, may have something to do with the fruity character of the rhubarb stalks in spite of them not being actual fruits - I remember my late grandmother's rhubarb stew as a simpler and cheaper alternative to apple sauce very well, and rhubarb wines were once made at home in certain rural areas, also in Belgium. This Boerenerf interpretation, additionally flavoured with 'verveine' which I suspect refers to common verbena (or lemon verbena?), contains three different rhubarb varieties (many people probably are not even aware that this plant species too comes in varieties) harvested by the Neerhof, an educational farm in Dilbeek; the corked and capped bottle opens with some 'gunsmoke' and produces a crackling sound escaping from the bottle even before pouring. In the glass, a big, fizzing, egg-white, very moussey, pillowy head is formed, gradually dissipating over a misty, warm yellow-golden blonde robe with slight ochre-ish tinge and a whirlwind of sparkling rushing throughout. Aroma of earthy rhubarb stalks straight from the garden (a scent I remember vividly from childhood when I sneaked into the garden to pick a stalk, peel it and eat it raw), farmland, damp hay, dusty attic, old oak wood (even a faint background touch of vanilla), lemon verbena (sic) growing stronger when warming up, preserved lemons, wood sorrel, green apple, unripe nectarine, hints of apricot, grape skin and horse stable. Fruity, bright onset, a lovely interaction of oxalic acid from the rhubarb with the natural acids from the lambic, but in a 'malse', juicy way, with side notes of sour grapes, apricots and oxidized green apple slices - boosted by a lovely lambrusco-like, refined fizz. Supple, rounded mouthfeel, with the rhubarb adding an interesting element of vinosity and almost 'yellow fruitiness' creeping into a smooth breadiness and lactic fruitiness, a bit yoghurty here and there, with that oxalic acid always remaining present in a gentle, juicy kind of way. Retronasal funkiness, a touch of 'Bretty' horseblanket and more pronounced farmland, brings the finish back to the essence of the lambic, but in this stage too, the rhubarb's fruitiness and oxalic acidity relentlessly yield a summery brightness I was not quite expecting. Woodiness remains soft as does (old) hop bitterness; a subtle herbal streak must represent the verbena, in a very delicate, flowery way - almost lost into the whole, but not quite if you know where to look for it. Earthy and rural, yet bright and summery, with a crisp fruitiness I would associate more with actual fruit (apricot or mirabelle plum for instance) than with the stalks of the old trusted rhubarb plant - but here you are, rhubarb posing as yellow summer fruit: "il faut le faire". Very clever, gentle, highly 'drinkable' and elegant lambic with some robust and 'funky' features here and there to keep things edgy: this is one to enjoy for hours. Great rhubarb lambic indeed.

750mL bottle, pours a clear pale golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a pungent, earthy rhubarb character, with moderate barnyard funk and soft sweaty citrus skins. Flavour has plenty of citrusy notes, light-to-moderate funk, earthy rhubarb, and gentle acidity. Earthy, citrusy and gently funky. It's no Nath, but it is excellent.

Flaska från Beergium. Funk, pigg syra. Kanske inte så mycket rabarber som märks men fin funkig lambic. Pigg fräsch syra med citron, brett och syrliga äpplen. Mycket gott
