All the nostalgic notes of the great best bitters that came before resinate in this brew. A solid malt back bone gives way to Celeia hops and for that all important bittering, First gold.
We love a great bitter here at Lakes Brew Co. Whether it be on cask, in a shandy or straight out of the can. This is our take on a Best Bitter and hope it gives you as much pleasure and enjoyment as it does us.

Cask at Dorchester Beerex. Slightly opaque amber. Frothy foamy translucent white head. Aroma is malty, caramel. Light-medium bitter. Grains and spice. Peripheral underlying sweet fruit. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Nice if unexciting.

Cask at Old Harkers Arms, Chester. Pours a golden amber with a small off-white head and good lacing. There’s marmalade and orangev pell in the aroma, plus some hints of malts. In the mouth it is sweet with a creamy texture. Malts are briefly to the fore before being displaced by traditional hops, along with hazelnuts and traces of ginger and dried apricots. Finish is quite dry. I rather liked this – a good no nonsense bitter.
