To create Shade Schwarzbier, the brewers combined three different specialty malts and flavored the brew with a touch of Hallertauer Mittelfrüh Noble Hops. It’s toasty yet crushable, with hints of mocha and toffee rushing through the crisp sip.

Solid traditional black lager. Very easy drinking. Balanced. Bittersweet. Could drink more of these. Nothing special but just good.

Pours a very nice dark brown from a can. Nice roasty malt aroma. Dry, well-balanced malt & noble hops. Very good beer.

16oz can from Tavour. My first beer from this brewery. Dark brown pour, tan head subsides. Roasty malt aroma with a touch of chocolate. Taste features light roasty bitterness, a touch of sweetness, subdued chocolate vibe. Mild finish.

5 week old pint can A: Clear dark mahogany brown with a short tan head that fell quickly to a ring. S: Sweet aroma of toffee and caramel with hints of leaves and dark fruit. T: Surprisingly tart cherry or berry notes to offset toasty and lightly roasty malts. Tart dryish ending. M: Medium body light carbonation and ashy finish. O: Some sweet, some roast, some tart and some bitter. Something for everyone. Very nice.
