While hops are central again here... they're deeper and darker than those found in the Throwback or IIPA, with some of that pine forest floor character you expect from old school West Coast hops alongside the citrus elements, and are joined by prominent sharp caramel malts to create a creamy lushness on the palate. There's something herbal there too and a hearty bitterness to wrap things up.

355ml can from Vinmonopolet Langnes. Firm off-white head to a clear amber coloured body, spotty lacing down the glassware. Good looking, indeed. Herbal hops on the nose joined by a little bit of toffee. Mixed taste of pine, wood and brown malts. Dry, very dry bitter tail. Medium bodied. Decent stuff with session qualities. (Tromsø 17.03.2018).

Boks fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Langnes. Gylden. Nesten helt klar. Høyt luftig skum som daler sakte. Litt lacing. Ferskenaroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken tørket frukt med spor av malt. God balanse.

Can. Amber beer with a strong head. The aroma is strongly hopped with bitter notes. The flavour is very bitter and hopped with a long lasting bitter and dry finish. Overall a nice pale ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap - Pours an amber colour with a small lasting near white head. Aroma is fruity with some light malts, sweet citrusy with some piney hops. Taste is biscuit malt, some citrus flavours, grapefruit, and a good piney resinous hop bitterness. Very good.

Can 330ml. Clear dark-golden colour. Medium white-greyish head. Medium lacing. Aroma is fresh, delicate sweet with tropical fruits note and small note of green apple. Light body, light bitter, semisweet in aftertaste, quite refreshing. Average APA.

355ml can from Beers of Europe. Pours hazy orange with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma is mangos, malt, fruity hops. Taste is medium bitter, tropical fruits, malt, resin. Enjoyed it a lot more than their IPA.

Can from Brewdog Tallinn. Pours light amber, some quite persistent off-white foam there. Nose is somewhat nondescript, light malt character, some hops but they have started to fade a bit. Taste reveals really nice malty, toasty, nutty backbone, still light and still well balanced with hop bitterness. Liking this pale ale a lot, really delivering what I expect from the style, not a session IPA but decent, well made pale ale. Dry nutty-herbal finish Wow, this one is really good!
