Former name: "Hefe-Weißbier Dunkel".
Dunkler, erfrischender Weißbiergenuss vom Feinsten! Eine köstliche Kombination aus röstigen Malzaromen, fruchtiger Hefe und milder Frische!

This is kind of a big disappointment after the dunkel and bock - it looks pretty good, and the aroma some inviting doughy and nutty character- but beyond that, there is not much going on here - yeasty, tart, nearly sour - somewhat dry, with a tanginess reminiscent of acids found in certain citrus fruits - odd bitterness in the finish - weird and a little difficult to enjoy.

Bottled (Beerangel, BB 11/2009). Amber color, good cloudy off-white head. Colour is paler than the in most of other big weizen brewers’ dunkelweizens. Banana-wheaty, a bit lemony nose with caramelly sweetness. Caramelly, medium-sweet banana, some hops in the flavor. Dryish, citrusy aftertaste. Flavorwise more like a normal hefeweizen than a dunkelweizen.

Bottled (from beerangel.de). Hazy amber colour with huge foamy head which leaves some lace. Aroma is banana, licorice, mildly roasted notes, some wheat and also mild caramelly notes. Flavour is roasted wheat, some yeast and mild licoricelike notes lurking in the background. Quite hard palate, which makes the beer a bit dull. Big roasted notes in the aftertaste.

Appearance: Dark brown. Quite a lot of head. Cloudy. Aroma: Wheaty, but not that bad. Bit of chocolate, actually. Taste: Wheaty-ish. Maybe spicy. Not nice aftertaste. Info: 500ml bottle, 11/9-2006, 91/500

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger, as (Marke) Weltenburger Hefe-Weissbier Dunkel. ABV is 5.3%. Despite using the "Marke Weltenburger" label of the Bischofshof-brewed beers, and not the "Weltenburger Kloster" label of the original monastery brewery, the rear label claims that this bottle has actually been brewed and bottled in the Klosterbrauerei. BB date 21.02.08. Hazy brown beer, huge off-white head. The moderate aroma has a strange combination of brown bread / bakery and citrussy notes, hints of cloves. The flavour has malty and bready notes, again combined with citrussy / lemony notes. Relatively light bodied and easy drinking. I had it on its own, probably nice with a light meal.

Medium offwhite fine-laced lasting head. Hazy opaque murky brown body. Papery vaguely roasty wheaty aroma. Delicate clean roasty caramelly taste with muddy wheaty notes. Taste just fades out, leaving a wheaty papery taste. Vaguely earthy. Nice, but not much taste. (0.5l bottle, Oktoberfest, Oslo.)

Bottle. Dark brown with a moderate beige head. Plenty of carbonation. Aroma of sweet malt, marzipan and yeast. Flavour was of ripe bananas, cloves and dates. Good.

Bottled at Löwenbräu, Stockholm. Muddy orange/brown., rich creamy head. Rich banana aroma. Sweet and caramlly. Medium bodied with flavour of ripe banana, rounded spritzy mouthfeel. The flavours vanish quickly, leaving me with an empty finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a dense, off-white head. Aroma with plenty of banana esters and cloves. Medium body with sweetish lightly roasted malt accents. Again flavours of banana, yeast and cloves with a vague, underlying citric astringency. An excellent dark Hefe. 260207
