Scotch ale aged in bourbon barrels
A perennial fan favorite, Kentucky Kilt is our malt-forward, amber-colored, Scotch-style ale that was matured this year in Wild Turkey 16-year bourbon barrels. The freshly emptied casks induce tantalizing aromas of vanilla and oak, while hints of ripe fruit and toffee round out this unique and complex barrel-aged blend.

16.9 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out lush bourbon barrels, toffee, caramel, and bready malt in good balance. Flavour has a beautifully smoky bourbon barrel character, moderate caramel malt, and bready toffee. Complex malts, elegant barrel-aging. World-class BA scotch ale.

500mL bottle. Pours dark golden brown with a beige head. Bourbon barrels, dry brown sugars, and brown bread malts on the nose. Flavour has a great bready malt character, dry light brown sugar, and a slightly smoky bourbon barrel character that blends very nicely with the base beer. The malt profile is excellent and the barrels are integrated perfectly with the base, this is excellent.

A lot of caramel, dark fruits, American oak, boozy, vanilla, creamy. Taste is along the same lines, bold, sweet and moderately bitter. Finishes with creamy notes and dark fruits. Good one.

Mmmm toffee bourbon smoothness. Nice sweet and smooth bourbon, some heat on the finish. - June 2020.
Barrel mellowed out a LOT. Mostly scotch ale vibes now with a tinge of bourbon.

Murky brown color. Strong body, sweet, caramel, barrel, light vanilla, a bit cloying. But good.
