This is a first for us; it will probably be a last as well.
We truly love Oregon Black Raspberries. They have a special 'spice' and forest-y element to them in both the flavor and aroma, and provide a particular thickness to the body, unique among all the fruit we work with. Not to mention, they are absolutely, insanely, intensely saturated with dark red, leaning into black, color.
We have typically found that they work well in combination with red raspberries. And, that's how we've traditionally used them. However, in this vintage, we loved these wonderful little berries on their own.
With prices for whole Black Raspberries hitting stratospheric heights, we're pretty sure that there will not be another bottling of this in the future. We've added a couple dollars to the sales price to accommodate the cost, but it really isn't feasible or responsible for us to make regular releases of it.
Anyhow, the beer:
It is truly a beautiful sight. Almost black in color. A dark crimson head provides the only indication that this is saturated with pigment from berries.
It has the expected aromatic and flavor intensity commensurate with the crazy coloring, featuring spicy Raspberry influence, with the unique evergreen and spice notes of these special berries. There's a softness and heft to the body, with the notable 'glycerin' feel provided from these alone, visible in the slowly rising and absolutely stunning head of foam.
It's a stunner, and we're happy to share it exclusively with our members. We hope you'll enjoy this limited, special release, even if we can't promise more in the future.

750mL bottle, pours a ridiculously intense jet black / dark purple with a small purpleish pink head. Aroma is intense, with loads of intense, dry, jammy black raspberries, super dry oak, and some wild yeast. Flavour is nearly bone dry, with intensely jammy and bone dry black raspberries, plenty of oak, and a touch of wild yeast. I think it's actually a touch too dry given the fruit character, as there's clearly an absurd amount of fruit in here. Super viscous and rich, but yeah, super dry. Very good regardless of it being too dry.
