Unsinkable Sam is no ordinary bitter. This strong “export” bitter has a rich maple and biscuity maltiness with a crisp, bitter finish and orangey/marmalade aroma from UK-grown hops. Named after a real life cat who survived the sinking of three WW2 ships – Bismarck, HMS Cossack and HMS Ark Royal – this is a strong bitter to fortify the resilient.

29/5/2026. Cask at the 2026 Colchester Summer Beer Festival. Pours fine. Biscuity, malty, marmalade, toasted. Fairly sweet. Good body. Quite liked it.

Cask handpull at Nelson Arms Tonbridge Clear mid brown amber colour beer. Lasting beige head. Some earthy English hops presence. Some milk chocolate. Cracking condition. I liked the English notes. Some malt. Some decent malt flavour. Moderate building bitterness on the finish. OK.
