In Iceland, winter is not something we fear, it is something we embrace. Especially when it signals the return of our extremely-limited Winter Ale, ready to be shared around a plentiful table or a roaring fire. Brewed with hand-cut and cured spruce tips along with smoked Icelandic barley, this is the perfect brew to complement your sagas of conquest and survival.

330mml bottle as part of the Beery Christmas. Tasted on the 09/12/2017 at home. Brown colour with a thick white head. Aroma of plums, wood, smokey malts and spices. Taste is medium strong with a touch of wood barrels leading to a slightly hoppy finish. Spices on the aftertaste. Next one please!

Beery Christmas #09. Pours dark brown with a beautiful head with medium retention. Aroma is sweet, fruity, a tad smoky with a lot of spruce. Medium-heavy body. Flavour is foremost a peculiar mix of honey sweetness and spruce. There's notes of citrus, fruity flavours in general, earthy and herbal hops, some pine, some sour and smoked malt. Finishes rather long, bittersweet with a nice spruce note. In general the spruce tips addition is very noticeable, but well incorporated into the beer, was not overbearing in my opinion. Nice beer, definitely a winter warmer.
