Imperial Stout BA

Još jedan hommage ove godine dolazi u stilu Russian imperial stouta kojeg smo prije godinu dana stavili na spavanje u hrastove bačve u kojima je prethodno 5 godina odležavao naš prvi single malt whiskey „Tale of the Dragon’s Tail“. Arome karamele, pržene kave i ječma, suhe šljive, hrastovina, viski i blaga vanilija pišu dostojan, pivski nastavak priče o „zmajevom repu“.

The bravest knight will think twice.

Limenka 0,5L - naručena iz Spicy daysa - možda mrvu previše bačve ali ne može se na to žaliti kod ovakvog piva.

Can, 0.5l. Black pour, one finger creamy beige head, medium retention, sticky lacing on the glass. Very nice on the nose, sweet, wood and liquor notes, figs, plum, forest fruits. Slightly roasty. Full body, soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel and texture, soft, oily, chewy. Goes down nicely. Balanced roasty bittersweet taste. Aroma of roasted malt, cocoa, coffee. Bready notes, figs, plum, berries. Wood and liquor notes, light sugary, molasses. Subtle warming alcohol in the background that slowly build up. Long lasting finish, dry, roasty, lingering whiskey notes. Tasty.

Can, huge thanks Hrabren! Pitch black, beige head, thick, low. Raisins, brown sugar and alcohol, dried plums in the aroma, alcohol. With oxidation, as it breathed a little bit, it developed orange liqueur-like touches. Oakey, burnt brown sugar taste, bitter, hoppy, alcohol burn, bit smokey, dark caramel, tannins, loads o' roast overall with plenty o' barrel and alcohol creeping up, maybe slightly too much. Tasty, rough around the edges, half a can is more than enough, creating an issue in the long run. It just overwhelms the palate with the one-two-three roast-tannin-hop bitterness combo, in spite of some distinctly pleasant touches.
