Cork and caged 75cl bottle between four at the 25th Oct 2016 Shrewsbury Beer Share: thanks Mat for this offering. Poured dark brown, with a small tanned topping. Aroma was all about the smoke. I am sure (like Mat) that I picked up smoked mackerel in both the nose and taste: weird. Luckily it did not seem out of plaice (sic) and luckily the beer picked up some sweetness from somewhere to even out the fishy flavour. Different and interesting but once is enough for me.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Oct 16. Brought by me. Thanks, me. Pours very dark with a small tan head. Aroma is rich and smoky. Taste continues with captivating smoked flavours and hints of smoked mackerel. Nice soft dark malts, dried dark fruits and earthy spice tie everything together. Very enjoyable, layered smoked porter.

0.75L bottle (from beerExpress). Pours dark brown-black with light brownish head. Aroma is rather weak, smoke, malt, roast, sweetness. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, malt, honey, molass, smoke. Finish has smoke, cloying honey sweetness and some roast-tar bitterness with some alcohol. Alcohol is somewhat noticeable (especially in the finish), but it’s not too bad. Overall: good, but too sweet.
