A proper black forest gateau is devilishly rich and elegantly boozy. Dark chocolate and sweet cherry flavours combine in a lavishly decadent stout.

Sweet and simple. Fun cherry Coke character. Mellow chocolate, low boozy kick, dark berries, earth and roast. Pretty basic but drinkable enough.

Creamy tan head tan head stayed on a near black coloured body. Medium to full bodied, smooth & creamy with a cloying back. Chocolate, cherry, vanilla & marzipan tastes with a bitter finish. Tasty but heavy going.

200ml draught at Tromsø Mikrobryggeri, shared with Finn. Tiny, fawn-coloured head, dotted spots on the glass. Roasted chocolate malts on the nose, hints of berry skins, inviting. Fine blended taste with chocolate malts, dark berries and a backbone of molasses. Roasted bittersweet malt-berry finish. Fine depth to it. Pleasing. (Tromsø, 05.06.2024).

Delt med Rune.Svart. Lavt tett skum med litt farge. Tynn teppelacing. Aroma av kirsebær & sjokolade. Smaken søt. Mye kirsebær. Blir nesten likør. Passe søt. Innslag av sjokolade. Tørr avslutning. God dessert.

440ml can from Sainsbury's - Deep black body, red tinge, cream head. Maraschino cherry nose, bit of dusty chocolate. Sweet cherry taste, sweet chocolate, a bit cloying, but I'm liking this. I can see this being a beer that has very polarized opinions, I'm on the in favour side.

Can on the Norfolk Dumpling day 2, thanks to Sharon for the pick up, 28/01/24. Black with a khaki cap that veers edgewards. Nose is dark malts, chocolate dipped cherries, molasses, brown sugar melt. Taste comprises dark malt base, chocolate pot, good enough take on black forest gateaux, molasses. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a kiss of alcohol. Not bad if a touch of the sweet side for my liking.

How clever is that, to brew a beer that tastes exactly like the real thing. Cherries, chocolate, creamy mush-face, and a snip at 8%
