Gamme Grande Cuvée. This Doppelbock, or "Double Bock", is a dark, extra full bodied lager after the best Bavarian tradition. Such beer was created by monks for the tough fasting period of Lent. They called it "liquid bread". Look for flavor notes of chocolate, candied fruit and roasted malt.

pours dark brown, off-white head. Aroma and flavors, caramel and chocolate malts with a nice grainy mouthfeel, some spices, and yeasty profile. Picked up some dark fruits with dark sugar. Tasty brew with a nice sweet side coupled with a good chocolate/caramel finish.

Dark maroon color with a medium tan head that settles slowly to leave good lacing. Aroma is reminiscent of a Hershey bar. Flavor starts with cola, progresses to milk chocolate, then roasted coffee, and finally a finish of burnt espresso. Good body. Very nice subtle, complex, smooth doppelbock.

Bottled vintage 2009 (PBF). Dark nut brown color, small beige head. Dark sugar, green beans, plum and something like milk chocolate in the nose. Crisp, quite alcoholic. Lots of caramel, toasted malts, very sweet for being doppelbock. Long toasted caramelly and a bit alcoholic aftertaste.

Bottle. Rich mahogony beer with a light tan head. Roasty, toffee aroma with malt. Big toffee/caramel flavor with roastiness and nutiness and a bit of licorice and dark fruit. Fuller bodied. Caramel/toffee lingers with roast and a bit of earthiness
