Bottled 330ml (PBF XIV)
Golden colour, firm white head. Overriped citrusy notes in the aroma. Light-bodied. Kind of malty with some citrus, maybe wheaty? Somewhat different than the many NAs.

1/VIII/24 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent), shared @ Ardennes Holiday, BB: IV/2025, 11:31, 54116 (2024-652)

Clear gold yellow to blond yellow beer, big solid creamy white head, very stable. Adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of cow fodder, grains, a bit lemony, fruity touch, a hint of banana. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: a bit sourish, a little metallic, grains, sweet touch, a bit watery, meh. Aftertaste: sourish touch, grains, soft bitterness, lemony, ok-ish, but not great.

330ml bottle. Minimally milky, yellow-ish, bright golden colour with average to huge, thick, dense, creamy, moderately to mostly lasting, moderately lacing, snow white head. Slightly grainy and bready, spicy, pale malty as well as minimally floral hoppy and doughy yeasty aroma, hints of white bread crust, whiffs of chamomile. Taste is watery, slightly bready and grainy, minimally spicy malty and minimally floral hoppy, slightly diluted hints of white of white bread crust, a weak touch of chamomile. Watery texture, smooth and soft palate, soft, dense, foamy carbonation. Well crafted, fairly refreshing, not that doughy yeasty as many others - acceptable.

The blonde alcohol-free beer in La Trappe’s range of trappist beers – and the first truly blonde non-alcoholic trappist, after the same brewery already launched a dark version (Nillis) some years ago. Thanks to Bart A. for sharing this one at Biercafé Den Bril in Moorsel near Aalst. Moussey, snow white, membrane-lacing, firm head lasting over a misty pale yellow blonde robe with lots of lively sparkling. Aroma of raw grains, plastic, industrial white bread, minerals, unused cigarette paper, unripe banana, dried bitter plant seeds. Neutral onset, very sharply and minerally carbonated with vague notes of unripe banana and green pear, quickly shifting to a very grainy, monotonous flavour with a ‘nagging’ sourish undertone from beginning to end – a kind of dull sourishness I experienced mostly in low-quality Asian and African pale lagers. Ends with plastic- and rubber-like bitterness rather than ‘natural’ hop bitterness and otherwise remains quite ‘empty’ – like some eighties or nineties style non-alcoholic pale lager, in fact. In that sense a throwback in time, contrasting with all those increasingly sophisticated alcohol-free beers one sees flooding the market nowadays. Odd – I was expecting more, considering the proportionally much more successful Nillis.
