Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Rye Stout with Black Ring Coffee
For the seventh bottled batch of this Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Coffee Stout, we've partnered with our own Supervising Brewer, Bryan Barron, and his Long Beach-based coffee roasting company @black_ring_coffee!
When Bryan isn't overseeing our brewing operations, he's perfecting the next batch of beans on the 14lb coffee roaster at the business he's owned since 2017. He and the Black Ring team are known for their small-batch roasts, award-winning cold brew, and house-made syrups -- and they've been keeping our Production Team caffeinated since Bryan joined our team this summer!
We’re thrilled to showcase the washed El Salvador - Las Lomas coffee beans Bryan selected and roasted specifically for RedEye November (2024). This coffee brings decadent flavors of toasted marshmallows, walnuts, semi-sweet chocolate, and baking spices to Darkstar November's base notes of burnt sugar, spicy rye, and oak.

Pitch black colour, small head. Boutique coffee aroma. Sweet, which well combines with the roastiness of the coffee, and the alcohol enhances the quality of the coffee too; dark chocolate, truffle/mushroom/umami, moderate sweetness.

500ml (thx, Dan C.!) at Andrey's shared with Phill and Alex. Appearance: dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: sweet coffee, some bourbon. Taste: very sweet, tons of coffee, spiciness coming for the rye, maybe some booze. Overall: good.

On draft at Bottle Logic, Anaheim. Listed are 14.09% What a treat! Moderate thickeness as far as appearance goes. Cola brown. Smooth taste, very easy drinking for its strength. Potent aroma with whiskey and bold coffee. Inviting though. Bold coffee flavor, low bitter, some cocoa, and a smooth lingering oak and whiskey. Well put together coffee barrel stout. Damn good stuff.

Bottle @ Solpengeshare. Pours pitch black with a small brown head. Aromas of espresso, peppery notes, vanilla, dark chocolate, molasses, brown sugar. Taste has lots of peppery coffee, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar, dark chocolate, roast, savory notes.

50cl bottle pours a dark, cola brown with tan head. Leggy too. Nice nose, chocolate, nice fragrant coffee, booze, caramel. Flavor has more, big with booze, Kahlua, malt, caramel. Full bodied but hot.

Holy mother of all hoarders. 50cl. Bottle. Thanks to Hallinghansen. Pours Mega Black with a small White head. Massive coffee, the greatest sort. Roast, easy chocolate and vanilla. Super Smooth and Perfect level of carbonation. Just Wauuw.
