Bottled@PBF XI (thanks to FatPhil for this!). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, mild yeastiness, some herbs, mild toasted notes as well as some coffee. Flavour is ashy, roasted malts, some ripe fruits and wood. Nicely coffeeish and ashy aftertaste.

50cl bottle as a gift from H. bought at Valmiermuižas Alus, Valmiermuiža, Latvia. Pours very dark brown with a rather modest, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts with dark chocolate, some dark fruits, licorice and hints of vanilla and coffee. Fairly sweet and roasty, but a somewhat mild bitterness is present. A bit to much on the sweet side for my taste, but quite nice still. --- Beer merged from original tick of Balles Alus (Porteris) on 13 Jul 2015 at 21:46 - Score: 6
