Full-bodied and dark, with the flavour of a beer brewed with lager yeast and discernible notes of chocolate and coffee in its fragrance. This beer can be laid down in the cellar like a fine wine, in order to see just how the nuances of flavour change over the course of time.

50cl bottle as a gift from H. bought at Valmiermuižas Alus, Valmiermuiža, Latvia. Pours very dark brown with a rather modest, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts with dark chocolate, some dark fruits, licorice and hints of vanilla and coffee. Fairly sweet and roasty, but a somewhat mild bitterness is present. A bit to much on the sweet side for my taste, but quite nice still. --- Beer merged from original tick of Balles Alus (Porteris) on 13 Jul 2015 at 21:46 - Score: 6
