24/8/2023. Cask at the 44th Peterborough Beer Festival. Pours clear dark amber brown with a frothy off-white head. Good looking beer. Aroma of toffee, malt, bread, nut, liquorice. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Slightly watery, soft carbonation. Enjoyable.

Cask at Bakers Vaults, Stockport. This is said to be a “Black IPA” but it’s not black, by some way ! Pours copper / burgundy with minimal cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and liquorice in the aroma. Whilst in the mouth it starts off quite bitter with floral hops, dark fruits and liquorice. After a while this mellows out to be quite sweet with malts and hints of pepper and ginger. Bitterness returns in the finish. This is nice – a very interesting bunusual beer.

Cask @ Fox & Goose, Hebden Bridge. Clear amber-brown colour with a creamy head and is smooth in the palate. Has as much dark malt character as hop, with the combination being a tasty one.
