It was Ecclesiastes who apparently said "I found something more bitter than death—the woman who is like a trap". Well we've found something more bitter than a trappy woman: a West Coast IPA.

Packed full of Loral and Centennial, and fermented with a Chico ale strain, this is a floral Westie with a little lemon pith and a clean, resinous finish.

On tap at The Barrel Project, pours a clear golden amber with a small white head. Aroma has some diacetyl, along with piney hops and some melon. Flavour is buttery, with some piney hops squeakinf through, but there's too much diacetyl. Needs fixing.

440ml can bought at Caps and Taps, Tufnell Park. Carried back home and shared with Finn. Off-white head resting over a cloudy golden body, clingy lacing. Inviting malt-fruity nose, lemon and soft malts. Orange and lemon to the taste character, mid-sweet malty base. Rounded malt-fruity end with fair bitterness. Pretty good. (Tromsø, 15.12.2023).

On tap at Salt Horse, Edinburgh - hazy amber body with a massive white head. Real sharp unripe citrus vibe to this, lots of lemon and grapefruit hints, long zesty finish. Decent.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up from Clapton Craft. Pours clear, rich orange-gold with a foamy, off-white head. Light to medium sweet with notes of sun-baked pale malts, orange peel, decent bitter pine. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Dry pine finish, some ample floral notes, form malt backbone. Great throwback gear.
