All sagas must end, but not all endings are happy. As the Troll Wars come to a head, the Dwarfs are caught off guard by a bold assault directly against the Ulfsburg. What better way to bring the saga to a close than with a monstrous 9.0% Baltic variation on our porters. Blending seven different malts to deliver a bold and complex flavour with hidden depths of roast, coffee, chocolate and smoke.

500ml bottle from brewery, now called 'Korvak's Downfall'. Look - black, small beige head, with good retention. Nose - sweet malts, roasted coffee beans, chocolate, caramel. Very inviting. Taste - semi-sweet, roast, coffee, liquorice, a slight hint of dark fruit. Strong roasted bitterness and a touch of smoke. Good bitter-sweet balance. Some booze notes come through. Palate - medium bodied, quite smooth, soft carbonation. Overall - excellent beer this one.

On tap at Old Royal Oak, Burton on Trent – as Korvaks Downfall. Pours almost black with a small cream head. Mainly malts in the aroma with traces of berry fruits and lactose. In the mouth it’s again roasted malts that dominate. Together with a melange of blackcurrant, vanilla, liquorice and alcoholic strength. Finish is a warming glow in the throat ! Wonderful – taken slowly.

På GBBF Winter 2020 i Birmingham. Delt med Rune og BeerViking. Svart. Mokkafarget skumring. Lakrisaroma. Smaken kakao. Tørr. Litt alkohol i ettersmaken. Ikke dum.
