DDH IPA with Nelson Sauvin

The wonderful and delicious hop Nelson Sauvin takes centre stage in this IPA. A creamy smooth A5 wagyu mouthfeel joins the lovely bright notes of passionfruit, white wine grapes, and gooseberry (surely this isn’t a berry that tastes like a goose?). Please, enjoy this beer!

Opaque. Thin head. Aroma is a bit oniony. The body seems thin, low bitterness, not much hop expression, the whole presentation seems weak.

On tap at Steamworks Mt Pleasant, pours a cloudy dull yellow with a small white head. Aroma is hopburn galore (JFC), with tons of chalk — no trace of Nelson or anything pleasant. Flavour is basically nothing but hopburn — there's maybe some tanginess in there but the chalky hopburn leaves too much unpleasant bitterness. Nothing redeeming about this. Incompetent as usual.

473ml can. Pours a murky orange gold with a small, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet fruity aroma of bready wheat malt, tangerine, passionfruit, peach, earthy yeast and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of bready wheat malt, grapefruit, green grape, passionfruit, earthy yeast and piney hops in a dry, bitter finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. A little chalky, but still tasty.

473mL can. Pours opaque yellow with white head. Aroma has a lot of citrus, some stonefruit and grass. Flavour is pithy; notes of orange citrus, pith, and pith. Dry. and chalky. Not a trace of Nelson Sauvin. Fuck's sake.

Cloudy to murky, pale yellow colour. Wonderful aroma, tropical fruit, with a hint of dank. Too dry, which doesn't pay well with the starch and the bitterness, therefore it ends up being dry and chalky; the hops are there, but they need sugars to feel juicy, and this doesn't happen here. Meh.

16oz @ Alex's becoming a former house. Appearance: murky blonde with a white head. Aroma: dank, some car exhausts, not very intense. Taste: along the same line, kinda watery. Overall: ok.
