Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Golden with a small head. Not too smoked with a general sweetness in aroma and taste. Golden ale with hops and some malts evident and practically a full body. Strength is evident.

Slightly hazy amber golden colour, white head. Light smokey aroma, malts, straw, hops and passion fruit. Light sweet flavour, quite bitter, floral hops, light citrus, only a hint of smoke. Bitter finish, lemon peel and malts.

Cask ale from the beer flight menu at Friends of Ham. Off-white head blanketing the glass. Clear golden-brown coloured body. Smell of leafy hops and earthy malts. Blended taste profile of honey and resinous hops joined by a minimal impact of smoked malts. Nice bittersweet ending. Fine bodied. Pleasing (Leeds 07.07.2014).

Cloudy light amber color. Very hoppy nose with pine and a citrus punch, but smoke is very muted. The mouth shows much more rye character with a big spicy backbone and a full on hop assault. Big bitter rye finish. Needs a bit more malt backbone. Enjoyable. As the beer warms the smoke character really jumps in.

Cask at The Hanging Bat. Clear dark brown, off-white head. Only faint smoke on the aroma, hoppy notes as well. Taste is more dominates by tropical fruit hops, and a big bitterness follows. Too much towards hops for me, but not a bad beer overall.

Keg at SIBA BeerX - Second of the night, and amazingly nearly as good as the first. Hazy straw yellow body, lush white head. Smokey nose, with hints of flowery herbs and resin. Taste is a load of bold spicy citrus again, with the resin coming through Γ  la retsina. Nice thick oily body, a very good one this.

Cask version at the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance -golden to amber with a nice head. Nose - citrus with malt and smoke backdrop. Taste -smoky apples and malt. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long drying finish. Overall - it’s good but they haven’t found a beer recipe to balance the smoke.
