What better way to toast the fall than to have a bottle of this formidable, dual character brew. At first smooth with mellow overtones of sweet berry fruit, a bite of bitterness suddenly cuts through, long, deep and lingering. Brewed with Rye Malt, it is naturally "blood red" in colour. Unlike the mythical wolf-like creature said to roam the bleak moorland surrounding Newcastle, this is real, so consider yourself warned!

Exceedingly average beer, faint aroma and taste, a little bit of roast malt and hops bite that fades fast. Not much to write home about here.

355 ml. bottle. Clear, amber colour with a golden tint. Big, bubbly off-white head, that fades to a fat cap. Sweet aroma with caramel and bread malts, toasted. A spicy, smoked note - the rye malts. Taste is light bitter. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Finishes dry and lightly bitter with herbal hops. I like the smoked, herbal dryness from the rye in this one. Otherwise rather ordinary Bitter.

Sample at SBWF 2013. Hazy dark copper with a small head. Thin and boring. Malt, caramel and some biscuits. Nothing to write home about.

330 ml bottle. Good looking, clear amber body with a medium sized dense off-white head that unfortunately disappears very fast. Strong aroma of caramel malt and not much more. Flavor is smooth and soft caramel malt, light toast, some fruitiness and moderate bitterness. Medium body and caramel in aftertaste. OK for a few sips, but rather one dimensional and frankly pretty boring.
