Pour is a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is nice earthy malt with some toffee. Flavor is pretty much the same. Earthy malt with some treacle and toffee. Pretty flavorful scotch ale. Nothing ground breaking but for a Newcastle beer, this was a good effort.

Pours a clear dark coppery color, topped with a rather small to medium white head. Aroma is mild, mostly malty and grainy with some noticeable caramel presence. Taste is similar, malty with sweet caramel notes, mild bittery feel. Surprisingly enjoyable. Very drinkable.

Bottle from Market Basket Plaistow NH. Aroma is dark roasted malts, caramel, toffee, with a bit of yeast. Appearance is attractive--clear, dark amber with finger-width off-white foamy head and nice lacing, with noticeable sparkle. Taste is moderately sweet with malty taste and hints of liquor--I wish there had been slightly more of this. Palate is medium bodied with mild carbonation and medium finish. Overall a satisfying take on the genre just shy of greatness.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours bright copper with a beige head. Aroma is toffee/treacle/bread. Med minus body. Flavor is toffee with hop that seems herbal. Makes me think of tobacco. It’s not dry, and the "herb" makes it seem on the bitter side. Rather unusual flavor IMHO.

0,355L bottle (from De Tolly Joogipood). Pours clear ruby-copper with off-white head. The head stays for a moment. Aroma is sweet, fruits, caramel. Flavor is sweet and bitter, fruits, caramel, toffee, and raisin like notes. Finish is nutty bitter. Overall: ok brew.

Draft. A- Caramel, brown sugar, malty, slightly sweet. A- Caramel color, clear liquid, tan head. T- Butterscotch, slighty bitter, malty, creamy, toffee, slightly sweet, alcohol. P- Medium body, thin creamy texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- I sort of had high expectations for this as the Scotch ales I’ve come across before include things like Great Divide Claymore and Founders Dirty and Backwoods Bastards. So naturally this was a let down for me. It wasn’t awful by any means but it had very little depth to it. It just needs a lot of work before it will blow many minds. Nice try though.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a tawny dark copper color with a small pillowy beige head. Aroma is caramel malt with dried fruit. Slightly toasty and toffee-like malt flavor upfront. Bittersweet and spicy with a soft sulphury palate. Dry herbal hop finish. Quite good.
