A California-style IPA with a Belgian twist
Stone Cali-Belgique IPA features a complex and surprising combination of flavors, but behind the fancy title is the simply delicious Stone IPA. The addition of a carefully selected strain of Belgian yeast adds banana and spice notes to the hoppy brightness of our flagship IPA. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.
This beer was created in 2008 when we used Stone IPA as the propagation wort for fermenting our Stone 08.08.08 Vertical Epic Ale. We liked what the Belgian yeast flavors added to Stone IPA, so we kept brewing it and eventually released it as one of our year-round beers.

So many ratings yet this is the first time I’ve seen it. Tap. Sweet perfume aroma. Pale yellow. Puffy head. Strong bitter medicine. Hardly any co2. Lingering finish. Not impressed. Needs a little civility.

(Draught at BrewDog Stockholm, 11 June 2015) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, spicy nose with notes of dried apricots, citrus, grass and spicy yeast. Malty, fruity taste with dried apricots, citrus, hay, spicy yeast, resin and a generous spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and interesting, with a spicy touch of Belgian yeast. Nice one.

Bottle from Craft & Draft, BB 06/25/15, large sample. Clear golden color, medium rocky slight off-white head. Aroma of bit peppery yeast, slight onion and garlic, bit floral, citric. Medium bitter in taste, peppery spicy, quite dry in the finish. Quite straightforward belgian-styled IPA with the peppery spice of the belgian yeast and the hoppy power of (Stone) IPA. Decent stuff.

650ml bottle at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki, courtesy of Konstantinos. Unclear golden color with off white head. Hoppy aroma, grassy, citrusy, light pine, light spicy and some yeasty notes when it gets warmer. Sweet, heavy bitter taste like aroma. Light to medium body oily with soft carbonation.
