Bottled 5.30.24, drunk 8.21.24. Clear, dark mahogany with magenta highlights. Reasonable, tan head atop. In the nose it's a lot of chocolate and lighter bourbon than seems usual for the series. Though it has softened its bourbon-ness in the past few years. No big tannin, certainly no big oak or coconut/pineapple. Just easygoing malt, light spice, big chocolate and caramel. No booze in the nose. In the flavor it's, again, very chocolate-forward. Almost don't get any coffee, which is fine with me. The body is medium-plus and shows great attenuation and still a pleasing sweetness with light tannin from barrel aging. That said, the series has also gravitated towards a more blended feel that doesn't highlight the barrel as much. Buttery oak and mildly spicy bourbon are very gentle throughout. Not boozey, not big on the coffee.

2024 bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown to pitch black with a finger of beige head that lingers. Big espresso focused nose with cacao nib and dark chocolate present. Medium to full bodied on the palate with more rich chocolate and espresso notes. Slighty creamy finish. Very good.
