Late Hopped Traditional Bitter. This bottle conditioned ale portrays all that is best about the traditional British bitter - hoppy bitterness on the palate and the nose is married with the full body of the beer. If Maris Otter malt is the body of our beer then hops are its spirit. Each year we choose our hops not just by farm but by individual garden and time of harvest. Hop variety Challenger is used as unprocessed whole leaf hops. Extravagant, perhaps, but delicious.

Copperbrown beer with a weak and white head. Aroma is medium fresh, aromatic, pure malty and some fruits. Taste is medium dry, biscuity malts, some lemony fruitness. Overally taste is based on malts and it is quite mild. Light to drink, but still nice. Nice and sophisticated bitter with great freshness without musty.

500ml Bottle - Amber with a foamy head. Malty and fruity aroma with a hint of banana and walnut cake. Nicely balanced taste with notes of hops, malt and a slightly grainy finish. Steady and fairly tasty.

I wish that we had more good English bitters and milds sold in this country. This beer is pleasantly light with a clean, fresh flavor. It would make for an excellent session beer. It pours a bright, light orange with dark yellow highlights and a wonderfully creamy head. The aroma is lightly citric with an excellent light malt presence. While it’s very well-balanced, there is still a noticeable hop focus. The feel is soft and creamy with gentle bitterness. I imagine that it’s great from the cask. Of course, for all I know, this beer could be terrible compared to its competition in England.

275ml bottle bought for me for Christmas 2009. Pasteurised bitter aroma. Boiled sweets on the malts. Very faint hop presence. Bit dusty. It’s a rather poor pasteurised bitter with as I say, some hop presence on the finish.
