This collaboration with Lochlea Distillery celebrates not only ours but their 5th Birthday this month too as well as the inception of our future journey together. Earlier this year we brewed our first double mash stout using 12 kinds of malts including Caramalt, Chocolate Malt, Chocolate Wheat, Chocolate Rye, Carabohemian, you get the point. The rich chocolate caramel base was then matured in Lochlea's special selection of barrels allowing them to create their first core product 'Our Barley'. This barrel combination included the perfect recipe of ex-bourbon, ex-Oloroso sherry casks as well as shaved, toasted and re-charred barriques

Can, not sure where from. Appearance - opaque mat black, creamy tan to fawn head. Nose - coffee and dark chocolate straight up. Then a light hint of booze but not overbearing and none of the expected wood. Taste - sweet toffee, rich chocolate and lightly toasted wood and gentle booze. Palate - full bodied, gentle wood and booze, lightly roasty finish. Overall - this is a really rounded Imperial Stout, one of Overtone's greatest beers..... so far.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 10/11/23. Black with a tan cap that thins but retains. Nose is dark malts, chocolate, spice, liquorice, mellow whisky vibes, fruit cake mix, nutty, charr. Taste comprises chocolate, spice, oak barrel, figs, light boozey whisper, dried fruit rinds, burnt caramel, mellow roast, subtle barrel tones. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow whisky kiss and balanced rising boost. Tidy well balanced easy drinking and approachable impy stout.

9th November 2023 Can. Opaque dark brown beer, small darkish tan head. Smooth and slightly airy palate, a mild dryness, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, a mild dark chocolate cake streak and thin dark malt cream. Mellow but rich fruity whiskey, very fruity, a little marmalade in there, estery fruits, even a whisper of red berries Mild barrel induced vanilla. Some caramel coming through on the back end. Mild savoury woody fruits on the light and semi dry finish. A rich and varied BBA stout here, off the beaten track but still coherent and pleasing. Nice job.
