This bitter sweet apple variety is a Devon favourite. Not an apple to bite into but then fermented produces a cider full of baked apple. Hints of spice and a salty breeze. Evokes aromas of an apple pie sat on a beach. Still and bone dry this does have a grippy astringency. This cider will age well.

7/4/2024. Bottle shared by Colin, cheers! Pours hazy dark golden with an orange tint and a small bubbly white head. Aroma is apple, straw, caramel, citrus, funky, slightly mucky notes. Moderate sweetness and bitterness with light tartness and a long drying finish. Nicely done.

Panda courtesy of Theydon_Bois, cheers Colin! Orangey gold colour, some white bubbles on top that dissipate away and aroma of apple, fleshy, skin. Taste is tangy, tart, apple flesh, some apple skin & core, with funk, and earthy drying tannins. Medium bodied, low carbonation, dry tart & tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle at home, from Elston & Son online, 23/03/24. Murky almost carrot juice orange (2nd half of bottle pour) with no head. Nose is tarte apple, sharp orchard fruit esters, wooded strokes, light funk. Taste comprises bitter apple, orchard wood, light acidity, funk, damp straw, apple core. Medium bodied, limited carbonation, drying close. Tidy stuff, pretty dry and astringent with a good bitterness and light acidic rip.
