A traditional Irish stout with a silky coffee, chocolate and toffee aroma. A delicate and balanced bitterness that finishes dry like a great Irish stout should!

From Amstein, St-Légier. Best before 10/24, perfect in Paris, after the job, in my hotel room with a rainy weather. Classical stout, light and aromatic, roasty malt, coffee, dry and mineral with a normal bitterness, smooth, easy to drink.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with small to average, thick, dense, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Sweet-ish, chocolately and roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of toffee, chocolate, coffee. Taste is bitter roasty and chocolately, minimally nutty, dark malty, mildly bitter hoppy as well, notes of coffee, toffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, minimally metallic overtones with a touch of iron, subtle residual sweetness with a touch of treacle and caramel. Watery texture, dry palate, medium to fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation. Very nice composition, quite rich considering its low abv - pretty good.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierothek' (online), bottled in January 2024. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite roasty aroma of toasted hazelnut, chocolate and coffee. Gently sweet, malty, quite roasty-bitter taste of dark chocolate, coffee, toasted hazelnut and light licorice, followed by a short, gently roasty-bitter finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pleasant session stout, very well done.

Draft. A- Roasty, cocoa, subtle coffee. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Roasty, ashy, cocoa, mild coffee. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Solid Irish Stout. I know Guinness is the go to but the craft brewers make a better beer plain and simple.
