Some beer archeology, quite a bit of Vienna malt, Tettnanger and Citra dry hops. This Vienna Red, an almost extinct style, is our contribution to the world of Lager. This is not a generic loveless brew, this is Lager than Life.

Bottle, courtesy of DerA. Pours unclear amber. Aroma is soap, citric hops, SIPA. Body is medium, softly sweet and rather bitter, a bit thin, but decently carbonated. Still soapy and not much else. Okay. Nothing red or lager in it, though.

(Keg at One Pint Pub, 20170129) The beer poured deep amber and rather cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, caramel and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were caramel, grass, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had caramel, malts and bitterness. A nice vienna but bit too fizzy.

Draught @ One Pint Pub. Pours dark reddish orange with a smooth foamy head. Aroma of malts, bready notes, caramel and herbal grassy notes, hints of farmyard. Taste is smooth, malty and slightly sweetish with some caramel, herbal hops and earthiness. Finish is malty, earthy and slightly hoppy with some herbal notes. Okay, slightly hoppy amber lager.

Tap at pudel. Pours amber with whiteish head. Aroma is sweet, malty, something herby and farty. Flavor is sweet and bitter, something herby, caramel, malt. Finish is lovely dry bitter. Carbonation is on the low side, just as i like it. Overall: goes down well, but doesn’t set world on fire.

50cl on tap at Pudel, Tallinn. Slightly hazy deep amber with a decent, off-white head. Mild malty with notes of caramel, fruits, citrus and hops. Moderate to medium sweet with fairly pleasant malty and hoppy flavours and a balanced bitterness. Feels a bit thin and watery, but otherwise quite enjoyable.
