A traditional Doppelbock fermented with an old world yeast. Reddish brown in color with a mild hop profile, Consecrator is a well-balanced, full-bodied lager with hints of caramel and molasses in its smooth, malty finish after spending 3 months maturing in our fermentation tanks.

Bottle. Sweet caramel malt, almost brown sugary, and a touch of fruit in the aroma. Clear red/orange with a quickly dissipating beige head. Big caramel malt flavor, with a bready malt finish. Full bodied and lightly carbonated

Purchased at West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a cool Tuesday night while making something called a Burrito Pie. I ate this after having some spicy chips, surprisingly this tastes fantastic after that. Appearance a dark plum / red ruby hue with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma really isn’t too apparent to me, definite molasses presence which may subdue the smell, also a touch of malt. Taste is just really unique, equal parts caramel and molasses, very smooth with medium to heavy body, really nice low to neutral carbonation, pretty sweet, almost a raisin candy type of flavor, also a bit of maple syrup in the mouthfeel. Now I’m watching Dancing with the Stars for some reason. I had Celebrator a while ago and I think this tastes like I thought that would’ve tasted like. Pretty impressed with this one.

8/10/11/11/8/11

Bottle. Pours beautifully reddish brown. This is a sipper. Lots of sweet dried fruits - pear maybe? Also kind of spicy. Smooth.

Bottle at Akkurat. Taste of caramell and smooth congac. True to the style and not overly hopped as the americans often have a tendency to treat their interpetations...

Pour is a red/brown with almost no head at all. Aroma is caramel with some molasses and a dark fruit. Flavor is a nice earthy malt to start out then comes a bit of dark fruit and molasses. Finish has some more earthyness left on the tounge. Sometimes I forget how flavorful a good dopple can be.

Batch 8251 Bottled Jan 08, enjoyed 09/03/09 Pours a reddish brown with a nice ruby hue when held to light. Smallish bubbly tan head dissipates quickly. Holy malt aroma Batman! Lots of Molasses and toffee, and burnt sugar. Raisins and some other dark dried fruits and a touch of alcohol. Very little if any hops present in the aroma. Taste is more of the molasses caramel and burnt sugars. You think its going to be sweet, but there’s just enough hops and alcohol in there to pound that malt back down. Finishes with a lingering prune/raisin finish. Thick body with a light carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. That’s a pretty damn good Dopplebock. Bell’s continues to impress me with every beer I get to try.
