The latest addition to Boneyard’s growing family of beers – a 14-percent imperial stout, dubbed Suge Knite, and pronounced just like the infamous gangsta rap producer – is the Evander Holyfield of ales: a serious heavyweight.
Inspired by another oversize stout, the Dark Lord, from Indiana’s 3 Floyds brewery, with whom Boneyard Brewmaster Tony Lawrence previously collaborated on Boneyard’s Cascadian ale, Armored Fist. Suge Knight is a massive beer that Lawrence said took some real coaxing throughout the brewing process. The result is a near masterpiece that is proving popular with people who might not usually reach for a Russian stout at the end of their shift. Stay stout, Bend.

On tap at Hunah Day. Pours a dark brown with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is roasted malt and graham crackers. Medium body, chocolate, cracker, roast, boozy, lingering dry finish, very good

Tap at TCBW. Pours black with light brown head. Aroma is sweet, malt, some nuttiness, fruits. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, fruits, dark chocolate, malt. Finish is roast bitter. Overall: very nice, very drinkable.

Draught@CBC2015. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is bananas, some liquorice, toffee, mildly toasted and alcoholic notes. Flavour is liquorice, toffee, toasted notes, mild tobacco, some alcohol as well as mild ripe fruitiness.

The rare occasion where I try the barrel aged version well before the regular, and didn’t even realize it. Draft at Toronado for their Boneyard night. Near black pour with a cool, chocolate, sweet aroma. Flavor is a little lighter than I expected in an imperial stout, but overall the flavor is there and good. Such cool lingering flavor, oak to pair, with a slightly empty cool finish. Overall a unique, quite enjoyable imperial beer here

From tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. Dark brown almost black color with light beige head. Malty aroma, roasted, light chocolate, licorice, caramel, herbal notes, light alcohol. Sweet and bitter taste. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
