Batch 233,234. Pours cloudy straw color with off white head. Aromas of wheat, corriander and lots of JP funkiness. Flavors of wheat, lemon and some sourness. Light to medium body with lots of carbonation and a dry finish.

A golden with with a creamy white lacing head. Fantastic Brett in aroma, pungent, with lemon and cloves notes. Wow! In mout, a refreshing liquid with light banana malt, light Brett, a bit of lemon. This is an excellent example of the wit! Superbly balanced. Bieropholie import, tasted around May 2007.

Bottle. Pale amber beer with a nice off-white head. LIght orange, yeast, brett aroma. Orange, yeast, brett, wheat flavors. Medium-light body - easy drinking. Lingering wheat, orange, and yeast.

What’s this? A commonly available JP beer I haven’t rated? Well, better late than never - hazy golden, fizzy beer, with a quickly dissipating head - the aroma has the standard JP funkiness to it, that seems to overpower the more subtle nuances (no big deal, though, since I enjoy their yeast), but some of the spices come through a little bit - tingly carbonation in the mouth - the light tartness and earthy funk that is common to their beers doesn’t overpower in the flavor like it does in some others - there is a nice combination and lemon/citrus acidity, soft wheaty flavors, and light leathery funk - the spicy character the style usually brings is not very present, but the lively, crisp tartness that replaces it makes up for it, and makes the beer more like a berliner weisse than a wit - not their best offering, but a nice refreshing brew.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Aroma of tart, lemony citrus. Hazy, grey tinged golden color with a respectable fine bubble white head. Thin to medium body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor starts a bit funky, sour and citric. Orange peel and coriander likely. The overall effect has me thinking something towards gueze or lambic. Finish is definitely dry and suggestive of the farm. It’s a very interesting and impressive drink.

750 ml bottle purchased at Lukas in Kansas City, Missouri. Batch 285 sticker on back of bottle (Brewed: 2/29/08, To Oak: 3/05/08, Bottled: 4/02/08). Pour is hazed darker yellow with some floaties. Two inch white head is fizzy and noisy, with visible carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of citric lemon tart and sour. Nice wheat body element, slight spicy yeastiness. Nice bright nose. Taste is bright citric wheat, prickly tart - puckering sour orange, lemon and limes. Nice fresh earthiness behind that. The funky JP yeast is present in the finish, adding complexity. Palate is thin to medium, dryish, slick, lots of carbonation. This was crisp, refreshing and really easy to drink. (7,4,8,5,16 - 4.0)

750ml bottle from Beertopia in Omaha, NE. Pour is clear golden with a ton of carbonation bubbles. A big fluffy white head of 3 inches settles down to about 1/2 inch and remains. Aroma of citrus, wheat, yeast, Belgian sugar sweetness, and only a hint of sour funk. Taste is more pronounced with the barnyard sour funk, though it is nicely blended with the lemon citrus freshness, and beautifully constructed palate. Crazy drinkable. This beer was tremendous with the spicy Italian sandwich I was eating. Nice work JP. (7,4,8,4,15 - 3.8)

Interesting sour aroma. Swirling wheat pour, hypnotizing with that gunk on the bottom. Light like a darker lemonade. Odd aroma on top of the foamy head too, like sour berries. Tart and enjoyable, friendly and fun. That is how it starts off with the taste buds. Oh yes, there is the orange peel, more orange flavor in here than I’ve ever tasted in a witbier. The orange comes across better than many that have a lemon edge. Quick carbonation that fades quickly after tongue impact. Sour smell continues and even affects the taste! Grassy and flavorful like those sour clovers that you can eat. No bitterness detected in the flavor or palate. Almost as smooth as many sour apple flavored soda pops. Certainly is wonderful, as the description implies.

Bottle. Pour is a light gold color with a lot of floaties and a kind of fizzy head. Aromas are decidedly strange. Not sure how I feel about them... funky. Flavor on the other hand is fairly interesting... if you can get past the funk aroma. Mouthfeel is bubbly and light, and there is the JP tartness to it, but the coriander is there and it compliments things nicely. Fruity notes abound: pear and sour apple are the dominant ones.

Bouteille 750ml, courtoisie de Hogtownharry. De couleur jaune et semi-voilée. Nez de levures sauvages sûres, fruitées et aux notes acides (agrumes, surtout citron, traces de poires), épicé (coriandre, traces de poivre), moyen de blé et avec de faibles notes boisées et de houblon floral. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen mais un peu croustillant ainsi qu’une texture moyennement crémeuse. Goût de levures sauvages fruitées moyennement sûres et aux notes acides (citron, léger d’agrumes plus sucrées, notes de pommes vertes, traces de raisins verts ainsi que de bananes et de poires non-mûres, petites notes terreuses) avec un goût épicé (coriandre) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de blé légèrement asséchant et de faibles notes de pain puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de levures aux notes épicées (poivre doux) et des notes de houblon floral et herbeux ainsi qu’un léger goût boisé (fût de chêne). Post-goût moyen-long et un moyennement sec, aigre de levures fruitées (zest d’agrumes, traces de pelures de raisins verts aux petites notes vineuses), aux notes amères de levures et de houblon floral et herbeux ainsi que des notes boisées et de blé.

12 oz bottle from Pantanap, Thanks Kan! Nose of tartness, yeast, apples, and spices; Hazy yellow with a medium yellowish head; flavor of mild lemony tartness, bready yeast, and the coriander. Body is medium-light with a slightly tart finish. Pretty good!
