No head, just some bubbles. Lovely deep red color. Aroma is slightly dry fruity, berry skin, oak, dry sour cherries, grass, unripe black currants, sorrel. Taste is dry fruity, berry skin, hay, overripe crowberries, dry cherries, oak, minerals, hints of black currants. Medium bitterness, very dry mouthfeel. Nice, but it’s more in the direction of cherry than black currants, and very little sourness.

Bottle shared with Erwin Van Moll @ Van Moll Brewpub. Opaque dark red color, small pinkish head. Aroma is sour, sour fruits, horse blanket, burned plastic. Taste is quite well balanced, sourness but not too much, sour red fruits, quite dry. Decent body and carbonation. Don’t like the aroma that much but the flavor is pretty good. Not too extreme, certainly not harsh as you normally get with Hanssens.

Bottle bought some place I can’t remember. Pours hazy deep purple with a thin pinkish offwhite head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sour, funky and fruity with crackers, black currants, lemon juice, moist hay, dry soil, grape skins, moist wood, leather, barnyard, horse blanket and hints of fart. Taste is sour, fruity and funky with crackers, lemon juice, black currants, unripe berries, hay, dry soil, grape juice, barnyard, leather and hints of blackberries. Mouthfeel is dry, tart and light to medium bodied. Finish is sour and fruity with crackers, black currants, lemon juice, hay, dry soil, barnyard, leather and hints of sour cherries. Not to complex yet very tasty…

Bottle. Pours a dark deep reddish color with a small fast disappearing off-white head. Has a fruity strong funky black currant aroma. Fruity dry spicy funky woody tart black currant flavor. Has a fruity spicy funky black currant finish.

375mL bottle, pours an opaque pink-tinted ruby red with just some bubbles as head - usual flat carbonation for Hanssens. Aroma is hugely funky, with notes of barnyard, loads of black currants, and horse blanket. Flavour is hugely funky as well, with loads of barnyard funk, horse blanket, and pungent black currants at the same time. Extremely complex stuff and wonderfully blended. The funk is so lovely on this and almost overtakes the fruit, despite the fruit being very prominent as well. Wonderful stuff from Hanssens here.

Bottle shared at a sour tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Nice hazy red color. Wonderful berries aroma with oak, leather, lemony notes and a medicinal note. Very sour flavor with a faint sweetish hint in the back, lots of berries, oak, a leathery touch, lemon and a puckering finish with lemon and a bit of vinegar. Medium-bodied. Lovely.

Bottle at Grote Dorst. Funky ss nose, with cassis, light leather, and turds. Pretty, deep crimson color. Stinky, funky flavor, currants, cardboard, dust, leather, and bit of manure. Nice fruit, but very weird and definitely challenging.

Bottle at Grote Dorst. 2010 vintage. Almost clear red liquid with small to medium light brown head. Aroma of apples, lemons, blackcurrants, light barnyard and light sweat. Taste is dry and medium sour with notes of lemons and blackcurrants. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Great beer.
