Kölsch as interpreted by Outer Range, a brewery in Colorado which also set up a second plant in the French Alps in Europe, which is where this can came from. Thanks Hinke! Thinnish, snow white, regularly edged, opening head on a misty yellow blonde robe. Aroma of white bread, dough, unripe pear, light banana, grass, withering leek, old potatoes. Neutral onset, almost no esters, clean and minerally with lively carbonation, smooth cereally pale maltiness with white-bready edge, quite malt sweet; light grassy hop touch in the end with a retronasal effect of withering leek and only mild, soft bitterishness, lacking a bit of ‘body’ and structure in the finish. Very easygoing quencher but lacking the detailed refinement and cleanliness of a true Kölsch, so I guess we end up with a more generic, cold-lagered golden ale of sorts…

23/VII/24 - 33cl bottle @ Alengrin’s place, BB: VII/2025, LOT23223 (2024-585) Thanks to Hinke for sharing the bottle!

Clear pale light yellow beer, small aery irregular white head, unstable, falls down quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: malty, a bit yeasty, a hint of banana, hay, cow fodder. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: malty start, grains, hay, a little grassy, bitter, a bit watery, sweet touch. Aftertaste: malty, grains, bitter, very herbal, a bit grassy, somewhat dry, ok.
