Bottle. Funky, spicy, malty aroma. Clear copper colour. OK peppery bonbon flavour. Not too flavourful, but palatable.

A hazy amber beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and alcohol, while the flavor is sweet malty with some notes of metal - my guess is that it is from the alcohol. A boring Bock.

(Bottle 50 cl) Neuzeller’s Bock is rather light in color. And yet, with it’s beautiful slightly hazy amber color, I guess it’s somewhere between a dark "Doppelbock" and a pale "Bock". The head is tall and hard to control. Pale bocks are sometimes very alcoholic in the flavor, bordering on unpleasant. But definitely not this one. Very harmonious beer, where the fullness doesn’t turn to extreme sweetness or alcohol. A fresh flavor of grains and fruit. Definitely a good one. 091203

(bottle) Clear pale amber colour with a medium frothy white head, slowly lacing. Malty aroma with a bit of honey-sweetness and a tinge of herbal hops. Sweet flavour, almost honeyish, malty taste with a slight fruity and floral hoppy finish. @JorisPPattyn: speaking of Islay malts and this brew in the same review is kinda heresy (just got a new bottle of Lagavulin today…; ).

Bottle: Orangey colour, firm, oo-white head; fruity (citrus) and malty (cookies) nose; initial malty sweetness with a tinge of honey, sweet flavour, smooth, only a very short bitter-sweet finish. Too sweet, not great........Maybe it’s this Bock and Closter Zell are the same brews.....?

Golden-amber with strange fuchsia shine in it; amber-yellow, very dense-syrupy head, but fast gone as there is no carbonation to speak of. Nose of speculoos, kind of Belgian spiced cookies, spicey too, especially preserved ginger (piquant-sweet as for sushi) - maybe hint of cardemoms. Sweet main taste, alcohol, like whisky-malt. Not an Islay, but slightly smokey all the same. Ever so slightly soapy. Retronasal, the aroma is nearly fully malt-whisky, but a very cheap one. Rather thinnish MF, some alcohol, no real burn. What puzzles me most is why Jim&Nat chose this beer for me. I presume it was to show that Neuzelle is really botching up things. And then they failed miserably, as I do like it somehow - though I fully agree it is miles from what I understand usually as a Bock. a very average malt, with too many shots of water?

Nutty and somewhat soapy aroma. Orange amber, low head. Fruit, nuts and very sweet malt. Vegetable aftertaste. Medium body with a smooth texture. Too sweet for my taste - I like the megasweetness in their dark beers, but here it does not fit.

Gold brown. Rather sweet, somewhat fruity. Full bodied with soft texture and some bitterness.
