Bottle. (thx Kjetil) The beer was brewed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Popeye in Japan, with the bottle wrapped in cellophane, like a gift. It had an almost clear, golden body, with a small, white head. The aroma was very strange, with mothballs dominating at first, but when aired a bit, cellar and fruityness appeared. Not sure how, mothballs aren’t always the best aroma I can imagine, but the beer smelled nice. There were also something reminding me of old Chinese cardboard boxes. There were much the same issues with the flavor, but not as heavy on the mothballs, and a nice hoppiness appeared, and left a nice, long bitter finish. Medium body. Definately one of the weirdest beers I’ve had, but it sure had it’s nice sides. If I were to drink a bottle on my own, I would probably drink it as slowly as a strong imperial stout. (070928)
